چکیده

The frequencies of chromosomal aberrations were determined using lymphocytes of non-smokers and smokers working in textile dye industry. We analyzed 52 workers exposed to complex chemical mixtures and 25 individuals selected as a control group in the same area not working in the textile dye industry. Cytogenetic monitoring of human population exposed to chemicals has proved to be useful for detecting the possible mutagenic effects of chemicals used. Comparison between workers and the control group reveal that the individual exposed to textile dye industry showed substantial clastogenic effects in peripheral lymphocytes. The frequency of total chromosome aberrations increased with age on workers having smoking habits (20.33 ± 0.73) compared to control (5.33 ± 0.88).

CYTOGENETIC BIOMONITORING OF 65 RADIOLOGY TECHNOLOGISTS OCCUPATIONALLY EXPOSED TO CHRONIC DOSES OF X-IRRADIATION IN IRAN

The frequency of chromosomal aberrations was studied in the peripheral blood lymphocytes of 65 radiology technologists CRT) working at hospitals chronically exposed to x-rays. Although film dosimetry did not show the maximal annual permitted dose in any of the examined subjects, cytogenetic analysis detected fairly high levels of chromosomal aberrations in R T compared to unexposed controls...

Cytogenetic analysis of Pakistani individuals occupationally exposed to pesticides in a pesticide production industry.

Although several cytogenetic biomonitoring studies on workers exposed to pesticides have been reported, there is only limited information on this topic from developing countries where pesticides have been widely used over the years. People in developing countries are at higher risk from exposure, due to poor working conditions and a lack of awareness of the potential hazards during manufacturin...

Changes in Selected Blood Biochemical Components of Industrial Workers Occupationally Exposed to Textile Dyes: A Preliminary Study

Present study was designed to evaluate the effects of chemicals used in textile dyes on the health of occupationally exposed workers. The various blood biochemical parameters of a total of 62 male textile workers (2045 years of age) involved in the dyeing processes for a period of six months to 20 years and 50 non-industrial workers were compared to assess the health of industrial workers. The ...

Genotoxic effects of textile printing dye exposed workers in India detected by micronucleus assay.

The textile printing industry in South India employs a great number of workers that may possibly be exposed to toxic compounds. In the present study, subjects from textile printing units were investigated for the presence of genetic damage in their peripheral blood lymphocytes using micronucleus assay. Proliferation was also investigated using a nuclear division index. It was found that the mic...

Optimisation and application of “state-of-the-art” cytogenetic techniques for determining genetic damage in the peripheral blood lymphocytes of individuals and populations occupationally or accidentally exposed to ionising radiation

Epidemiological studies have shown that exposure to ionising radiation may induce malignant diseases in the exposed individual. A recent re-evaluation of the incidence of cancer and leukaemia in populations exposed to ionising radiation has resulted in an international recommendation (ICRP report 6
